Rolling Process

The rolling process reheats the billets produced in the steelmaking process and then produce them to create products of the size and shape desired by the customer. Currently, YK Steel has an annual rebar production capacity of 850,000 tons.

Step 1
Heating Furnace

The heating furnace reheats billets from the steelmaking process to a hot rolling temperature (1,000–1,100℃), enhancing their workability and ensuring quality for customer needs. YK Steel's furnace operates safely and environmentally through PSM (Process Safety Management) and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to remove nitrogen oxides from exhaust gases.

Step 2
Rolling

Rolling is the process of producing rebar that meets customer needs by continuously processing billets from a heating furnace through 16 stands (rolls), which include rough, intermediate, and finishing rolling. We can produce rebars up to 1.7 km long (D10 standard) from 7 m billets and continually invest in technology and facilities to ensure high-quality products.

Step 3
Cooling Stand

The products transported through the cooling stand are cut according to the customer's order.

Step 4
Cutting

Products transferred from the cooling stand undergo strict quality tests, are cut to the lengths desired by the customer, and are packaged in bundles using automated equipment. Products packaged in this way are identified by changing the color of the cross-section of the rebar depending on the type before being sent to the customer.

Step 5
Inspection and Packaging

The cut rebar is quality tested, and products that pass undergo final inspection and are packaged in bundles using automated equipment. These packaged products are sent to customers with color-coded tags based on specifications.
